Position SummaryThe Patient Care Technician embodies the core values of our organization, adhering to ethical standards and compliance protocols while fulfilling essential responsibilities under the guidance of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide fundamental nursing care as directed by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and documenting patient intake and output.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene and daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Communicate any significant changes in patients' physical or emotional conditions to the nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within patient rooms to promote a safe environment.
- Exhibit adaptability and effective organizational skills, managing multiple tasks efficiently, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Utilize critical thinking to prioritize and execute unit tasks in response to the dynamic needs of patients and staff.
- Act as a communication link between patient care units and other departments involved in patient care.
- Respond to calls and inquiries with professionalism, ensuring accurate information is relayed to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with the charge RN and/or assistant manager to oversee unit workflow as necessary.
- Assist with pre-census tasks and verify daily admission and discharge records as required.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of one clinical rotation as a nursing student, or certification as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician.
- Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support.
- Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting and carrying specified weights.
Preferred:
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program.
