Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Ascension. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care services.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic patient care and ophthalmic testing procedures as directed by an Ophthalmologist.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Obtain patient history, perform basic and routine vision screening examinations, administer eye medications, and assist with minor office procedures.
  • Review appointment schedules, complete forms, and process records accurately and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Maintain and stock supplies as needed, ensuring a smooth operation of the department.
  • Teach proper contact lens care to patients, ensuring they understand how to insert and remove lenses correctly and maintain good sanitary conditions.
  • Confirm accuracy of contact lens and glasses deliveries and dispense according to physician direction and patient preference.
Requirements
  • BLS Provider certification preferred, American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, Associate's degree/Technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
