Position Overview:
The Speech Language Specialist will be responsible for conducting assessments, eligibility determinations, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings while providing direct therapeutic services to students. This role includes supporting students with speech delays and other special education needs. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess all students referred by educators and parents, including early childhood populations.
2. Employ suitable diagnostic methods to perform comprehensive speech and language evaluations.
3. Identify the nature and severity of speech and language disorders across various domains, including receptive and expressive language, articulation, and fluency.
4. Analyze evaluation results and enroll students whose speech and language impairments hinder their academic performance.
5. Create and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with regulations.
6. Schedule and provide remediation services tailored to individual or group needs.
7. Regularly monitor and document student progress.
8. Utilize established exit criteria to recommend students for dismissal from formal speech and language services.
9. Act as a communication consultant for teachers, school staff, and families, providing guidance through various consultation methods.
10. Facilitate classroom language groups in collaboration with classroom educators.
11. Maintain open lines of communication with the families of students receiving services.
12. Participate in team meetings and annual review processes.
13. Engage in Problem Solving/Intervention Team meetings as necessary.
14. Provide supplemental services for Tier 2 & 3 interventions as required.
15. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain accurate records.
16. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:
- Must possess an Illinois Professional Educator License with Speech Language Pathology endorsement.
- A Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology is required.

- Ability to create a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students in the learning process.
