Fiber Network Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary:
Fully utilize high-level fiber network maintenance skills to ensure optimal performance of vast passive optical fiber networks. This role requires exceptional adaptability and a proactive approach in diverse environments, including apartment complexes, attics, and aerial fiber lines.

Key Responsibilities:

* Coordinate tasks and duties for night-time technicians and subcontractors
* Develop and manage Maintenance of Operations Procedures (MOPs) for work performed within maintenance windows
* Create and track change management tickets to ensure seamless process execution
* Communicate effectively with Global Fiber Network Operations Center on behalf of CI Services
* Oversee the OLT tracker, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information

Main Accountabilities:

* Supervise daily operations for assigned areas, prioritizing safety and quality control requirements
* Ensure construction activities meet established budget and schedule expectations
* Represent UniTek Global Services during customer interactions, providing exceptional service and support
* Maintain accurate site status reports and site plans, implementing job instructions as necessary
* Schedule subcontractors and materials delivery to optimize project timelines
* Compile comprehensive closeout documentation, capturing key project learnings
* Provide leadership and training to crew members, promoting knowledge sharing and growth
* Maintain equipment and vehicles, ensuring they remain in excellent working condition
* Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop effective bidding strategies

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field experience

Essential Qualifications:

* Minimum 5-7 years of construction management experience in telecommunications or utility industries
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience, demonstrated leadership abilities
* Proven ability to lead a crew to successful project completion, driving results-oriented outcomes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly

Tech Skills:

* Proficient in managing paperwork in both hardcopy and electronic formats
* Organized with strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work
* Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret site plans and scopes of work, identifying critical elements
* Thorough understanding of local permitting processes and requirements, ensuring compliance
* Skilled in creating materials lists and ordering materials for crews
* Industrial First Aid and CPR certifications, with relevant experience
* Demonstrated expertise in construction skills, including fiber splicing techniques
* Proficient in computer and Microsoft Office applications

Soft Skills:

* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with team members and stakeholders
* Ability to motivate and lead team members, driving engagement and productivity

Physical Demands:

* Must be physically fit, with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds
* Frequent travel to work sites, approximately 75-80% of the time
* Prolonged standing periods may be required, with occasional need to navigate challenging terrain
* Must pass pre-employment screening, ensuring suitability for the role
* May be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
* Position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions
