Job Summary

Eocene Environmental Group is seeking a highly skilled Archaeological Field Technician to join our team in the Southwest Region. As a Field Technician, you will work on various projects throughout the region, conducting cultural resources inventories and documenting archaeological sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Class III cultural resources inventories and document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs
  • Work independently and efficiently, while working in a team setting
  • Use hand-held field technology, including ArcGIS phone/tablet application and sub-meter GPS receivers
  • Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day and carry personal health and safety equipment
  • Work in moderate weather conditions, including fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather
Requirements
  • Has completed coursework leading to a degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field
  • Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the Southwest
  • Excellent navigational skills, including GPS and compass, and ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehicles
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and interact with employees and vendors
Preferred Experience
  • Proficiency using tablets to document cultural resources
  • Proficiency with sub-meter GPS receiver and ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications
  • Permitted or permittable on BLM lands in the Southwest
  • Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings
