Under the direct supervision of a casting technician and/or Practice Manager/Administrator, you will serve as a liaison between the unit, staff, auxiliary departments, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Conduct 12-lead EKGs and obtain other vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and accurately record results in the patient's medical record.
  • Provide continuous observation of designated patients and promptly notify licensed nursing personnel of any situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Apply bandages, slings, and hypothermia blankets as directed by registered nurses, adhering to established standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with fracture management and traction, including splinting, as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment according to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in the transportation of patients to ancillary departments, ensuring safe and efficient transfer.
  • Replenish and order supplies as needed to maintain a well-stocked and organized work environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, hospital, and physician-related information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Experience: Certification as an EMT in New York State is required.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Licenses/Certifications: Successful completion of an approved New York State EMT-B or AEMT course with current EMT certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory.
