About the Role:

The Principal Flight Safety System Engineer position is a key role within the Energetics and Propulsion Department, part of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon. This organization is responsible for the design and development of propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, update, and approve system verification artifacts and system requirements.
  • Familiar with electrical circuit design and able to identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate issues.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of experience with technical engineering background, leading teams in the aerospace or government sector, or Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • 10 plus years of directly related experience in mechanical and electrical design.
  • Specific experience developing electrical sub systems used in flight termination (electronic arm fire devices, flight termination receivers, flight termination controllers, tracking systems, etc.).
  • Experience developing and qualifying flight systems for harsh environments.
  • Working knowledge of RCC319.
  • Experience developing destruct termination devices.
  • Experience in business development and technology road mapping.
  • Demonstrated success as a team leader.
