Electromechanical Maintenance Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electromechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Shearer's, a leading manufacturer of snacks in North America. As an Electromechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the efficiency of machinery and equipment in a continuous improvement-based environment, while also creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment
  • Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations and defective material; report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Requirements:

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience
  • Experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings), product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs), troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns), and reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)

Working Conditions:

The Electromechanical Maintenance Technician position is located in a manufacturing environment, which includes:

  • Exposure to high temperatures
  • Fumes or airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Loud noise level
