Position Overview

The Pilot in Command is entrusted with ensuring the secure, lawful, and efficient operation of company aircraft.

  • Reports directly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of aircraft under the management of Chantilly Air, Inc.
  • Conducts all responsibilities associated with aircraft operation in compliance with 14 CFR Part 91, including: ensuring airworthiness, maintaining proper documentation and company manuals onboard, performing weight and balance calculations, assessing weather conditions, evaluating performance, managing fueling, tracking flight locations, conducting briefings, and operating the aircraft within the established limitations set by the manufacturer and company.
  • Oversees the Second In Command's activities, ensuring that all flight crew members are fully aware of their specific duties.
  • Encourages and maintains a safe operational environment in accordance with FAA regulations and Chantilly Air's standards, actively contributing to the company's Safety Management System.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Expected to uphold a professional image in all settings as a key representative of the organization.
  • Maintains current qualifications as mandated by FAA regulations.
  • Holds a valid 1st Class Medical certificate as per company policy.
  • Delivers exceptional professionalism and customer service.
  • Collaborates closely with and supports all departmental functions as required.
Educational Background

A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Preferred total flight experience of 3000 hours in fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Preferred total Pilot in Command (PIC) flight experience of 2000 hours in fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Lear 45 Type Rating is preferred.
  • Preferred turbine flight experience of 250 hours.
  • Possession of an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical certificate is required.
  • No history of accidents or incidents.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully complete the following checks:
    • Pre-employment drug screening.
    • PRIA background check (including any incidents/accidents).
    • Credit check.
    • DMV check with a valid driver's license.
    • Employment verification.
  • Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing in the English language is mandatory.
  • Ability to relocate within a two-hour radius of Chantilly Air, Inc.'s base of operations.
  • Must meet all international travel requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Work Environment

The working conditions are typical for an on-demand flight operation. The environment may vary with climate conditions, air turbulence, time zone changes, altitude variations, and other factors, including variable hours and working conditions, exposure to dry air, jet fuel, exhaust fumes, and noise from engines and ground equipment.

Physical Demands

This position requires physical activities such as pulling, pushing, kneeling, twisting, climbing, squatting, bending, and lifting of bags and equipment.
