Position Overview
William C Brown Inc is seeking a Senior Architecture Engineer to enhance our team and provide support for our esteemed government clientele's global enterprise networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze client requirements and implement standard design methodologies for service delivery. Thoroughly document designs with schematics, materials lists, cabling layouts, configurations, and other essential documentation.
- Utilize our dedicated testing laboratory to assess new technologies and capabilities, validate proposed modifications to production networks, and replicate troubleshooting scenarios to assist the operational enterprise network.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules for transitioning user connections from outdated to modern infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to critical data flows.
- Offer technical guidance to operations engineers and technicians, aiding in fault detection and resolution. Address complex challenges with innovative and scalable solutions.
- Create secure network architectures that comply with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and organizational policies. Secure Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and functionalities.
- Oversee (not manage) other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and execute network services.
- Enhance and refine design products, processes, and systems to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- While this role primarily focuses on CAN/LAN, it also provides opportunities to learn and engage with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Essential Skills, Experience, and Education:
The ideal candidate should possess 16 years of relevant experience, which may include a combination of work history and education. This could be a doctorate with 8 years of experience, a master's with 10 years, a bachelor's with 12 years, an associate's with 14 years, or a high school diploma with 16 years. Required qualifications include:
- Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE)
- Experience in Network Engineering, including Tier 3 or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation
- Previous responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper
- Practical experience in implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production environment, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
- Practical experience in implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production environment, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels
Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Network engineering and design experience specific to CAN/LAN, including application of industry standards, configuration development, and integration of solutions into production environments
- Network engineering and design experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls
- Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols, with the ability to demonstrate expertise through presentations and documentation. Extensive Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) experience is a plus. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification within one year from the date of hire.
- Initiative and discipline to work independently as part of a network engineering team. Experience in establishing processes, developing documentation, and organizing repositories is advantageous.
