The Family-Centered Maternity Care unit, featuring 20 beds, is dedicated to supporting postpartum mothers and their infants facing various health challenges, such as diabetes and pre-eclampsia. This unit includes a nursery designed for well infants who require additional care following their mother's discharge.
As a Baby-Friendly designated facility, our unit fosters a collaborative environment where staff engage closely with teams from neonatal intensive care, intensive care, and cardiovascular and pulmonary departments.
Role of the Nurse Assistant:
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Assistant is responsible for performing specific patient care tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of patients. This role involves contributing to the planning and execution of patient care, responding to urgent situations in accordance with established protocols, and actively participating in ongoing education and professional development. The Nurse Assistant is expected to uphold the Henry Ford Health System's Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; CNA certification is preferred.
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary, such as Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician, but the responsibilities remain consistent).
- Alternatively, candidates may be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- Foreign-trained and licensed RNs who have relocated to the United States without a Michigan RN license are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience as a Medical Assistant, with or without prior experience, is acceptable.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a role such as Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar positions is required.
