Senior Water Technologist

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a senior water technologist to lead our industrial wastewater and water business. As a national leader in water management, we have a growing presence in the US, with over 60 offices and 1,300 water professionals. Our industrial client business is expanding across the US, driven by our reputation for technical innovation and delivery excellence.
Our senior technologists are responsible for leading teams of professionals to solve complex water management challenges for industrial clients. We are looking for individuals who understand how our clients use water in their manufacturing processes, can think broadly about problem-solving, and serve as trusted advisors to our clients throughout the solution development and implementation process.
We value a "one team" culture that allows us to deploy the right talent to the right project, regardless of location. As a senior technologist, you will be involved in projects across the US in our target industrial segments. Your operations experience will bring valuable insights to new projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership for consulting and design services to solve wastewater and water needs for industrial clients.
- Develop holistic solutions for clients considering production, business operations, regulatory constraints, and financial expectations.
- Collaborate directly with industrial clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Contribute to Hazen's national and regional practice teams to sustain and grow technical capabilities, particularly in industrial wastewater treatment and reuse.
- Work with Hazen's Corporate Industrial Water Lead to develop new opportunities, including client development and proposal development.
- Manage select projects and assignments, and mentor staff to ensure their growth and development.
- More than 15 years of experience solving complex wastewater and water management challenges for industrial clients.
- Experience working in project phases from consulting through design, with commissioning, startup, and operations experience a plus.
- Active involvement in the industrial wastewater community through organizations like WEF.
- BS in civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering, with an MS or PhD in the same fields a plus.
- Experience working in food and beverage, agribusiness, specialty chemicals, high tech, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues to non-technical people.
- A passion for mentoring teammates and contributing to their growth and development.
- Primary - Mid Atlantic or Midwest regions.
- Secondary - Southeast or West.
- We will consider any region for the right candidate, with office location flexibility a plus.
