At the University of New Mexico - Hospitals, we are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. This role will provide child, adolescent, or adult patient care in a treatment or educational milieu; assist in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment that enhances treatment and/or educational effectiveness.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing support to patients and families, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team working together to deliver high-quality care.

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care to patients in a manner that considers and promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment
  • Assist with physical needs of patients, including taking vital signs and administering medications as designated
  • Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of patient treatment programs
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Training in mental health care
  • CPR certification within 30 days

Non-essential qualifications include:

  • Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
