Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Mechanic to join our team at Cave Creek Unified School District 93. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are safe and functional for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair school buses and other vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Diagnose and correct problems with vehicles, including those identified by drivers during pre-trip inspections.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on transportation equipment.
  • Assist in the development of specifications for new vehicles and inspect used vehicles prior to purchase or lease.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent, and/or appropriate mechanical experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in automobile and bus maintenance and repair.
  • Hold a Commercial Driver's license, Class B with a P endorsement and an Arizona School Bus Driver's Certificate or be able to obtain the license within the first year of employment.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

The Transportation Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels. The job requires regular attendance, sitting, talking, and hearing, as well as occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Supervision and Evaluation

The Transportation Mechanic will report to the Director of Transportation and will be evaluated at least once annually by the Director with input from the Lead Mechanic.
