The Role

This position reports directly to the Department Manager and is responsible for general and specific job duties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Exhibiting a fair and consistent management approach, following the principles outlined in The Magna Employee's Charter.

  • FOLLOWING COMPANY POLICIES AND DISPLAYING CONDUCT EXPECTED OF DECOSTAR EMPLOYEES AS DESCRIBED IN THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK.
  • Persuading and supporting the following of Company policies and business objectives in the daily management of the operations of the Company.
  • Meeting and maintaining all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.
Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Directing and following Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar Industries employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Exemplifying the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace by correcting unsafe behaviors, eliminating or reducing the possibility of an employee injury due to hazardous conditions.
  • Immediately responding, in a positive and proactive manner, to any Decostar employee's health and safety concern or suggestion.
  • Immediacy reporting any accidents, incidents, or near misses to the Safety Department and completing the required Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
  • Completing all required safety-related inspections.
  • Not installing or making changes to any equipment or machinery that may jeopardize the health and safety of any employee.
  • Ensuring all employees, under your guidance, have received all required training to perform their job safely.
  • Managing all aspects of The Magna Employee's Charter and ensuring that the charter is adhered to by all Decostar staff by providing guidance and leading by example.
  • Providing automation/robotic technical support to all pertinent production department employees, utilizing a 'train the trainer' approach to deliver first-class customer service.
  • Participating in new program launch activities to assist in the identification, installation, and commissioning of needed capital assets to support production requirements.
  • Coordinating training activities for appropriate personnel regarding the design intent, operation, and maintenance of automation and/or robotic system equipment.
  • Providing engineering support to the Manager of Operations with respect to automated and robotic systems.
  • Participating fully in Decostar continuous improvement team activities as directed by the Manager of Operations to ensure CI goals are met.
  • Coordinating new projects and/or engineering modifications as assigned, ensuring all work is in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assuming project management responsibilities for any project assigned by the Manager of Operations and ensuring that all timelines are met.
  • Assisting as required in writing bid specifications for potential vendors for specific projects and creating bid comparison matrices for the purposes of vendor selection.
  • Providing regular progress reports on the timeline schedules for all projects.
  • Continuously reviewing and considering new technologies as they might apply to Decostar Industries, making recommendations to the Manager of Operations for considering introduction of new technologies to the plant floor and demonstrating the feasibility and justification for such technologies.
  • Providing automation and robotics support as required, applying to all aspects of current and any future production systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • 4 years minimum experience in programming Fanuc, Sepro, Motoman, and/or other robot systems, with the ability to develop path programming from scratch and program all sub-system interfaces.
  • 2 years minimum experience in programming PLC's.
  • 2 years minimum experience in creating drawings in AutoCAD 2010 or newer.
  • Experience in reading mechanical, system, and layout drawings.
  • Strong PC skills.
  • Strong engineering project management experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment and operational principles of mechanical components and systems.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study or minimum ten years work-related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
