Pay Rate: $105 to $116 Per Hour + Quarterly Bonus

Schedule: 6 to 9 months Full Time Contract Eligible for extension

Job Description

Body Fit Plus Inc is seeking a highly skilled Psychologist Corrections Specialist to join our team at a correctional facility in Tehachapi, California. As a Psychologist Corrections Specialist, you will provide psychological services to mentally ill inmates/wards, maintain order and supervise the conduct of patient-inmates/youths, and protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological services to mentally ill inmates/wards
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patient-inmates/youths
  • Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property
  • Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history
  • Meet with mentally ill inmates/wards for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face-to-face interviews, etc.
  • Identify relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders
  • Apply psychological assessments in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests
  • Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and develop treatment plans
  • Consult on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, and with Correctional Facility in California institutional healthcare personnel
  • Document all care provided to the inmate, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTTs) meetings
  • Monitor inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation (SOAPE) FORMATTED PROGRESS NOTES
  • Perform mental status exam (MSE) in face-to-face interviews
  • Examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records, and other available documents
  • Establish collaborative ties with community programs, groups, agencies, board and care homes, etc.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender inmates/wards
  • Assist patient-inmates/youths in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services
  • Compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements
  • Provide information (i.e., appointment documentation, no-shows, etc.) to support staff for data entry
  • Provide relatives/caregivers with information concerning patients in person, by phone, or by correspondence only after receiving the inmate's signed release of information for that specific individual
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with the patient-inmates/youths, families, and caretakers
  • Represent the department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters
  • Gives input and helps to implement new programs for the treatment, training, or rehabilitation of patient-inmates/youths

Requirements:

  • Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years rendering direct patient care in public or private institution
  • Clinical competencies must be current
  • Valid Photo ID Driver's License or Passport (Required)
  • Possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association
  • Valid California Psychologist license Hard Copy (Required)
