Job Summary

Drury University is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Facilities Services team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, and related equipment on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily checks of campus mechanical rooms, inspecting operational equipment and making notations in equipment logs.
  • Respond to HVAC-related calls and complete daily work orders, recording time spent on the job and any invoices.
  • Service pneumatic controls and digital controls, calibrating, adjusting, or replacing as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, documenting and creating plans as necessary.
  • Service air handlers and fan coils, cleaning coils and replacing filters as needed.
  • Use manifold gauges to check freon charge on air conditioning compressors and repair units as necessary.
  • Brazes and solders copper pipe using torch and replaces plastic piping, metal piping, and copper piping using hand and power tools.
  • Use volt/multi-meters to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and wire equipment as needed.
  • Clean boilers using wrenches to remove hatch bolts and flush out scale and debris.
  • Order parts and materials from equipment and parts vendors, using tech manuals and parts catalogs.
  • Regularly monitor and check for proper operation of pressures and temperatures.
Requirements
  • Specialized training in HVAC and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • EPA Certification required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds and walk from one building to another.
  • Ability to see for operating equipment, machinery, trucks, and computers.
  • Ability to be on call for after-hours repairs and be alert and coordinated for thinking and reacting quickly.
