Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Design Engineer to join our team at Power Systems Mfg., LLC. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

The estimated salary for this role is between $120,000 and $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented mechanical engineer to design and develop gas turbine engine components and systems. As a Staff Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing industrial gas turbine engine components and systems to meet Fit, Form and Functional requirements and design criteria.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Design Industrial Gas Turbine Engine components and systems to meet Fit, Form and Functional requirements and design criteria.
  • Support the continued development and oversee the adherence to PSM design systems including job folders and documentation, technical reviews, drawings and engineering changes and field validation plans and verification.
  • Analyze components to ensure parts maintain appropriate stress levels, meets life requirements and design criteria.
  • Utilize appropriate design/analysis tools, such as ProEngineer, ANSYS/Abaqus, Microsoft Excel or similar.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes and capabilities to ensure supplier can meet quality and schedule requirements.
  • Assess needs and identify critical path schedules for design, manufacturing and procurement activities.
  • New product manufacturing development.
  • Create, lead and/or deliver presentations to internal and external clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM's EHS Training Matrix.
Skills & Experience
  • 2-3+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and manufacturing gas turbine engine components and/or large rotating components. Combination of education, experience and research work will be considered.
  • Strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience with FEA software desired (ANSYS or Abaqus).
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining and fabrication techniques is preferred.
  • Familiar with vibration and dynamics analysis of rotating structures.
  • Familiar with advanced FEM modeling techniques such as nonlinearity, contact, and creep.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to perform hands-on fieldwork is strongly desired.
  • Travel is required on an as needed basis.
