Job Title: Director of Research and Development

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret strategic business intent to inform product development and implement the product development strategy.
  • Partner with custom development to build a collaborative pipeline that ensures Solina is a market leader.
  • Evaluate concept reporting and launch/lifecycle proposals to create a sustainable innovation pipeline.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership principles through mentoring and staff development.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external customers.
  • Manage the organization, prioritization, planning, execution, and documentation of R&D project activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on solving technical, processing, ingredients, and regulatory issues.
  • Evaluate current and future technologies for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Stay informed on food flavor trends and provide leadership to the company's research and development staff.
Requirements:
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 5-8 years of product development or closely related experience in the food industry.
  • Direct management of large technical groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide innovative ideas.
  • Experience with setting annual budgets, tracking, and controlling expenses.
  • Academic food science knowledge with product development and food manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
