Job OverviewAs a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver essential nursing care to patients transitioning from higher levels of care, such as the intensive care unit (ICU), to a more stable environment in a stepdown unit. This role is critical in providing a seamless transition for patients, ensuring they receive the necessary support and monitoring during their recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions requiring close observation.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician.
- Assess patient conditions and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families regarding conditions, treatments, and procedures.
- Support patients with daily living activities while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
- Active RN license in the relevant state.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience in a stepdown or ICU setting.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations and varying levels of illness.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
