Job Overview

Are you an adept problem solver with a passion for information technology? The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) offers a rewarding opportunity for a skilled Information Technology Technician within the Services and Support Division. This role is integral to the PLCB Help Desk Team, which provides vital internal customer support for an organization that generates significant revenue through its retail operations across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Position Responsibilities

The PLCB Help Desk serves a diverse client base, including over 2,000 PCs and more than 1,200 Point of Sale (POS) systems, along with associated inventory management applications, network printers, and other IT equipment. You will collaborate within a team environment in Information Technology Services (ITS) and work closely with various divisions to ensure compliance with procedural standards.

This is a first-level technical support role, where you will assist users based on established troubleshooting protocols and common resolutions. Responsibilities include managing incoming calls from users, documenting all interactions for tracking purposes, and escalating issues to higher support levels when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Standard work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Telework: Opportunities for full-time telework may be available, with occasional in-office requirements as operational needs dictate. A secure high-speed internet connection is necessary for remote work.
  • Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in certain cases.
Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as an IT Help Desk Technician; or
  • An associate degree in an IT-related field; or
  • Two years of experience in IT support services involving hardware and software management; or
  • One year of relevant experience combined with a one-year apprenticeship in IT technical support; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • Must meet residency requirements.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is required.

  • Successful completion of a background investigation is mandatory.
