Key Responsibilities
• Foster trust and respect among team members.
• Cultivate an atmosphere that makes customers feel valued and appreciated by addressing inquiries about products available in the bakery and across the store.
• Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of bakery offerings to effectively respond to customer questions and provide product recommendations.
• Prepare baked goods according to customer specifications using appropriate bakery tools and equipment.
• Provide product samples to assist customers in discovering new items or answering their inquiries.
• Inform customers about bakery promotions and specials.
• Ensure customers receive fresh products in the correct portion sizes to minimize waste.
• Suggest bakery items to customers to help them find what they desire.
• Operate all bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens, in accordance with company standards.
• Prepare food items according to temperature logs and follow established cooking guidelines.
• Accurately measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes, utilizing various kitchen utensils and machinery.
• Properly prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of ingredients.
• Assess product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing expiration dates and taking necessary actions.
• Effectively use kitchen tools, including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and food processors.
• Label, stock, and manage inventory of bakery merchandise.
• Report any discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
• Familiarize yourself with the store layout to assist customers in locating products.
• Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and special promotions.
• Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting any discrepancies.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in display cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs updated.
• Reinforce safety protocols by adhering to safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
• Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate personnel of any repairs needed.
• Report any customer or employee accidents to management.
• Notify management of any safety risks, illegal activities, or incidents of theft or fraud.
• Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this role with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
• Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic mathematical knowledge.
• Valid food handler's permit upon employment.
Desired
• Experience in a bakery setting.
• Background in retail.
• Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
