Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures, assisting licensed independent practitioners, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic procedures, including fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiographic procedures
  • Determine radiographic exposure factors and apply principles of patient safety
  • Assist licensed independent practitioners with imaging exams and procedures
  • Verify informed consent and corroborate patient clinical history
  • Prepare patients for procedures and apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification
  • Identify and escalate emergency situations and manage until appropriate personnel arrive
  • Provide patient education and education to students and other learners
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and ongoing quality improvement processes
Requirements
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R)
  • Current Certification by ARRT Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • Successful completion of Rad Tech Diagnostic Clin II Level requirements
  • 3 years of previous diagnostic radiology experience
  • Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment (preferred)
Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking, as well as the ability to lift 20-50 lbs. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and logical thinking.
