CDL A Local Truck Driver

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled CDL A truck driver to join our team as a local route delivery driver. As a key member of our food delivery team, you will be responsible for delivering and unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a tractor trailer or straight truck on local routes to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers.
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally to ensure questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including inspections of the tractor, truck, and trailer, to ensure they meet company safety standards.
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas, and perform damage control checks on items.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
