Electronics Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at Mb Solutions Inc. as we collaborate with NASA on cutting-edge space exploration electronics systems.

As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing electronic systems for space applications. Your expertise will be essential in creating innovative solutions that meet the stringent requirements of NASA's deep space exploration endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electronic systems for space applications, including analog and digital circuitry, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to develop and test electronic systems, including printed circuit board design, component selection, and system integration.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
  • Work closely with technicians to construct and test designed systems, ensuring compliance with NASA's specifications and standards.
  • Engage in analog and digital printed circuit board design to meet specific needs, using tools like Altium Designer.
  • Develop and enhance LabVIEW code for test systems, and create test software modules tailored for specific testing requirements.
  • Operate in a laboratory setting, adhering to standard operating procedures and ensuring a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution, with five years of relevant engineering experience, or a Master's degree with four years of experience, or a Ph.D. with no prior experience.
  • Previous hands-on experience with analog, digital, and power electrical schematic entry, as well as printed circuit board layout tools like Altium Designer.
  • Background in data acquisition systems, particularly National Instruments, and proficiency in LabVIEW code development.
  • Proficiency in FPGA circuitry design and VHDL coding in relevant environments.
  • Experience with microcontroller circuitry design and embedded software development.
  • Familiarity with cable design specific to space applications.
  • Knowledge of JSC standards and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in data interface protocols and related hardware, such as Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, and SPI.
  • Expertise in using test hardware like oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and more.
  • Previous experience in cable design and analog instrumentation systems.
  • Background in designing and testing stepper and brushless DC-DC control circuits.
  • Proficiency in designing and testing power supply and conditioning systems.
  • Experience with version control software like Subversion (SVN).
  • Skilled in various MS Office programs, including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
