Position Overview:
The Finance Professional role is a key contributor within the Morrill Hall Shared Services Team (MHSST). This position serves as the main liaison for various Student Affairs departments, including but not limited to the Aurora Center, Care and Advocate Program, and the Office for Community Standards. The incumbent will oversee non-sponsored financial management tasks, concentrating on budgeting, reporting, forecasting, transaction support, approval processes, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management (40%):
- Oversee the fiscal operations and financial management of designated units.
- Collaborate with supervisors and departmental leaders to develop preliminary budgets and detailed financial models.
- Conduct regular meetings with departmental directors to analyze financial reports and projections, identifying potential funding or compliance issues and proposing solutions.
- Work closely with supervisors and departmental leadership to address potential budget deficits.

2. Document Analysis and Approval (30%):
- Review and authorize all financial documents (including requisitions, vouchers, reimbursements, PCards, and journal entries) while considering fund availability and budgetary plans.
- Coordinate the year-end closure of operational budgets.
- Supervise and assist in training accounting staff and cluster processors.

3. Policy Interpretation and Support (20%):
- Apply and interpret financial policies to facilitate departmental programming.
- Act as a resource for department staff, providing guidance and training on accounting policies and procedures related to purchasing, procurement cards, contracts for services, travel reimbursements, and vouchers.

4. Monitoring and Forecasting (10%):
- Track monthly activities and forecast annual performance of operational budgets.
- Monitor available funding within designated Foundation accounts.
- Collaborate with HR/Payroll staff to ensure accurate Human Resource expenses align with budget plans.
- Participate in the larger Shared Services Team as needed.
- Engage in professional development through courses, workshops, and seminars.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Work Mode:
Hybrid (2 days in-person, 3 days remote)

Compensation:
$58,000-$62,000

Qualifications:
Required:
- BA/BS degree with a minimum of two years of professional accounting experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience totaling six years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and online reporting tools.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.

Preferred:
- Experience with U of MN PeopleSoft Financials (EFS).
- Background in financial reporting, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting.
- Prior experience in budget planning and implementation.
- Familiarity with University financial policies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
