Position Description

RAND is seeking criminologists with diverse expertise to join our research teams. Our researchers collaborate on projects that address complex policy issues, producing high-quality analyses to inform decision-makers. We value objectivity, rigor, and a commitment to excellence in our work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct applied and policy-oriented research, applying theoretical, methodological, and quantitative skills.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze policy issues and evaluate programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, such as foundations and government agencies.
  • Teach in the Pardee RAND Graduate School and contribute to projects across various research divisions.
Qualifications

We seek candidates with a strong research background, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to quality and objectivity. Specializations of interest include criminology, policing, courts and corrections, victimology, and juvenile justice.

Education and Experience

PhD in criminology, criminal justice, or a relevant discipline is required. Alternatively, a PhD in another discipline or a JD with extensive research experience is also acceptable. We welcome candidates with a Master's degree in public policy, public health, or a technical discipline, accompanied by 5+ years of research leadership experience.

Location and Work Arrangement

Positions are available in Santa Monica, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, D.C.; or Boston, MA. A hybrid work arrangement is available, with opportunities for fully remote work.

Salary Range

The salary range is $100,000 - $262,500, with variations depending on the specific role and experience.
