Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Occ Health Float

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team as an Occupational Health Float. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, therapeutic, and efficient care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assess patient educational needs, prioritize learning needs, and develop teaching plans to activate non-compliant patients.
  • Track, review, and monitor follow-up of diagnostic test results under the direction of the provider.
  • Provide related education, counseling, and ongoing review and monitoring regarding diagnostic tests in collaboration with the provider.
  • Assist in the management of patient care between visits, including prenatal care.
  • Independently assess patients/callers health status based on presenting symptoms, determine the urgency for care, and direct patients/callers to the most appropriate level of care.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the Physician Office Clinical Assistant, including greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
  • Prepare and administer vaccines, medications, and controlled substances/narcotics as prescribed by the provider and as certified competencies permit.
  • Ask prescribed screening questions, identify risks and contraindications, and observe for appropriate responses.
  • Document and process prescription requests and refills per provider order.
  • Perform basic office procedures, examinations, and/or tests ordered by the provider and as certified competent.
  • Provide health care information materials and reviews with patients and family members as directed by providers.
  • Obtain basic health information from patients/family members to review with providers or clinical resource persons to determine the urgency for care or an alternative venue for care.
  • Give basic care information to patients/family members per provider guidelines and instructions.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Collect specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Assure all patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired supplies and medications.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures by ensuring they are appropriately gowned and instruments and supplies are set-up.
  • Arrange for patients' ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services by completing necessary paperwork and scheduling appointments.
Requirements:
  • Diploma program from an accredited LPN program.
  • 1 year of previous clinical nursing experience.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire.
Working Environment:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent standing, walking, and sitting. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds is also required. Occupational hazards and exposure to bloodborne pathogens are possible.
