The Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) at Rutgers University is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will conduct specialized research on a collaborative project focused on the origin, evolution, and construction of proteins that transfer electrons.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct computer simulations of protein structure and design small peptides and proteins.
- Synthesize and characterize peptide and protein designs.
- Structurally and functionally characterize designs.
- Train and mentor undergraduates in scientific research projects.
- Participate in scientific meetings within the NASA Astrobiology Institute and national and international scientific meetings.
- Coordinate multi-investigator and multi-institution collaborative interactions regarding the project.
- Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and Rutgers' regulations, laws, and policies.
- Understand and adhere to Rutgers' compliance standards, SEBS's Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas: bioinorganic chemistry, structural biology, microbial genomics, biogeochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular evolution, and synthetic organic chemistry.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Prior experience with EPR and NMR spectroscopies is strongly preferred.
- Previous mentoring experience is desirable.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work in a laboratory environment, utilizing computing resources and performing bench-laboratory experiments. Universal precautions are mandatory.
