Diesel Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at JX Enterprises, Inc. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn and damaged parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, and control corrosion to keep equipment available for use.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program preferred.
  • At least 2 years related work experience preferred.
  • Valid State or Federal A/C Certification.
  • Engine certification (Paccar, Cummins or Caterpillar) Preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge required.
  • Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain).
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
