Key Responsibilities- Conduct examinations and provide treatment independently, while collaborating with the Chief Physician.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Interpret x-rays related to work-related injuries.
- Perform physical assessments for pre-employment, return-to-work, and medical surveillance purposes.
- Review patient health history documentation.
- Comply with legal practice regulations as per the Illinois Public Health Code.
- Analyze lab results, x-rays, and MRI findings in the absence of the Chief Physician.
- Execute minor medical procedures, including suturing and foreign body removal.
- Administer EKGs, pulmonary function tests, and respiratory fit tests, along with calibrating necessary medical equipment.
- Oversee administrative tasks such as managing medical leave requests and scheduling appointments.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Safety, and Workers' Compensation in managing employee health issues.
- Provide education to employees regarding medical conditions, treatments, and injury prevention.
- Supervise nursing staff during assigned shifts.
- Exercise prescriptive privileges as delegated by the Chief Physician, adhering to Illinois regulations.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
- Valid and unrestricted Illinois license.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Experience in Occupational Health or urgent/emergency care settings.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
- At least one year of healthcare experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries in environments such as urgent care or emergency rooms.
- Willingness to work a second shift schedule.
