We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to join our team at Westfields Hospital. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare the operating room for each procedure by setting up sterile tables, checking equipment and supplies, and ensuring that all necessary instruments and materials are available.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist the surgeon and other medical staff during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as needed, and helping to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Instrument Management: Select and prepare the necessary instruments and equipment for each procedure, and ensure that they are properly cleaned and sterilized after use.
- Specimen Handling: Identify and handle specimens properly, and transport them to the pathology department as directed.
- Equipment Maintenance: Identify and report any equipment that requires maintenance or repair, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the operating room.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure the smooth operation of the operating room.
- Education: Completion of a Surgical Technologist program from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Certification: CST certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is preferred.
- Experience: 2 years' experience as a surgical technologist, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
