Purpose
The Field Control Systems Engineer collaborates with on-site teams to develop, refine, and troubleshoot programming and configuration for various devices, including RTUs and PLCs such as Omni, Autopilot, TotalFlow, and Bristol RTUs, as well as ROCLink and RSLogix. This role also involves working closely with field technicians to diagnose and enhance communication equipment used in the field. Regular site visits are expected to assess communication tools, build rapport with field staff, and strategize the integration of new pipeline assets. Additionally, the Field Control Systems Engineer serves as a key liaison between field teams and the SCADA department for special initiatives and modifications affecting the SCADA infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
Site Setup and Maintenance
- Collaborate with local teams to configure and install necessary modem/routers.
- Replace and maintain network hardware at field locations and offices for the SCADA OT environment, ensuring secure communication between devices.
- Schedule regular site visits for maintenance and assessments.
- Assist in the installation of new metering systems.
- Support RTU configuration, installation, and upgrades.
- Conduct functional testing and validation of SCADA field devices.
- Work with field personnel to troubleshoot inaccurate measurement data.
- Address missing meter data in the measurement system.
- Collaborate with field staff on communication equipment modifications and enhancements.
- Facilitate point-to-point verification by coordinating with field technicians, vendors, and control center personnel.
- Assist field personnel in accessing remote devices.
- Partner with field teams and communication providers to resolve outages.
- Maintain rigorous change control procedures and documentation.
Cybersecurity Responsibilities
- Monitor endpoint security and manage incident responses for any irregular or malicious activities.
- Support compliance with critical pipeline TSA SD-02 requirements, including annual third-party penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
Communication Support
- Ensure redundant and secure communication circuits between sites and data centers.
- Collaborate with VSAT and cellular service providers to optimize secure communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience is required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team setting.

Working Conditions
- This position may allow for remote work, with occasional visits to offices for project-related meetings.

- Physical demands include light work, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
