Position Overview
This role entails comprehensive floor upkeep for both hard surfaces and carpets, including tasks such as stripping, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting. Responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness in various areas including offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other communal spaces within the University.

Union University is a distinguished private institution dedicated to liberal arts education, offering a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The University is recognized for its commitment to a Christian worldview and provides a nurturing environment for approximately 3,200 students from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and preventive carpet maintenance, which includes vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets and upholstery.
- Perform floor care duties such as mopping (both dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors.
- Scrub floors thoroughly to eliminate all soil and restore the base finish.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment and report any repair needs for equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
- Utilize cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and institutional policies.
- Operate and assist in the upkeep of cleaning machinery, including extractors, buffers, auto scrubbers, and burnishers.
- Execute additional housekeeping tasks as directed by the supervisor, which may include dusting, restroom cleaning, and general office maintenance.
- Regularly wash trash bins and manage waste disposal as necessary.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should possess the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions. A valid Tennessee Driver's License is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in floor maintenance.
