Job Summary

The Sonographer - Echo Cardiac Ultrasound at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in echocardiography from neonatal to geriatric populations. This role requires knowledge in using computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment, performing various inpatient and outpatient transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography procedures, and completing all preliminary reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed measurements and calculations to define disease states
  • Use computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment to perform echocardiography procedures
  • Complete all preliminary reports and ensure proper charting, filing, and charging of all Echocardiography procedures performed
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies needed for procedures performed
  • Participate in hospital and departmental on-going Performance Improvement activities
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science or Graduated Accredited Cardiac and or Vascular Ultrasound program
  • Basic and Advanced Cardiology classes
  • Continuing education is required on an annual basis regarding Cardiology procedures performed
  • CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) certification within 90 days
  • RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) certification within 90 days
  • CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of work experience in echocardiography
  • Proficiency in Change Healthcare Cardiology system
  • Ability to work-up and complete reports accurately and timely
