Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer - Certified to join our team at the City of Spokane, WA. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and serving our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas on foot or in a vehicle to preserve law and order, prevent and discover the commission of crime, direct traffic, and enforce traffic and parking regulations.
  • Respond to calls and investigate complaints involving accidents, fires, misdemeanors, and felonies; investigate suspicious activities, administer first aid, interview witnesses, gather information and evidence, make arrests, prepare reports, and testify as a witness in court.
  • Exercise powers of arrest and control, defend oneself and use force and deadly force, enforce motor vehicle laws, operate a vehicle under emergency conditions, and provide emergency assistance.
  • Participate in special operations, perform related work as required, and advise the public on laws and ordinances, provide general information, and assist the public.
Requirements
  • Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of the Washington State Criminal Justice Basic Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Valid WSCJTC BLEA certification at the time of hire.
  • Must be 20 years of age at application and 21 years of age at the time of appointment, within normal weight range for height.
  • Physical requirements for this position, including eyesight, hearing, and other physical abilities, are consistent with state law and guidelines.
  • All successful candidates will be required to pass a post-offer physical and psychological examination prior to appointment.
  • All applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be a United States citizen.
  • A police record may be grounds for rejection.
