Job Summary:The Surgical Technologist demonstrates expertise in intraoperative scrub responsibilities, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. This role involves preparing the surgical team, assisting with basic draping, positioning OR equipment and supplies, and preparing and operating room equipment. The Surgical Technologist creates a sterile area using aseptic technique, prepares supplies, and recognizes and corrects when sterility is compromised. Additionally, this role involves demonstrating proper handling of surgical specimens, performing counts per policy and procedures, and following National Patient Safety Goal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Selects equipment and supplies using preference cards
  • Locates basic equipment and supplies
  • Identifies and demonstrates methods of surgical reprocessing of instrumentation and supplies
  • Prepares self for the scrub role
  • Prepares surgical instrument supplies for surgery
Requirements:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

Preferred: Associates Degree in Surgical Technology

Minimum Experience: Less than one year of previous job-related experience

Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Licensure/Certifications: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist
