Job Summary

Marine Corps Community Services (MCSS) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodial Worker. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain offices, storerooms, corridors, stairways, sidewalks, parking lots, and other areas of the facility
  • Sweep, dry mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, lightweight vacuum cleaners, and lightweight floor scrubbers and buffers
  • Dust, wax, and polish furniture
  • Empty ashtrays and wastebaskets
  • Polish doorknobs and other metal fixtures
  • Wash walls, windows, and blinds that can be reached without climbing ladders or scaffolds
  • Maintain shopping carts
  • Keep restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
  • Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls
  • Clean mirrors, sinks, and water fountains
  • Dust ledges and woodwork
  • Replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap
  • Maintain a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notify supervisor when more are needed
Requirements
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs and follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Ability to move around well enough to work safely while moving lightweight objects
  • Ability to use common cleaning tools and lightweight vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers
  • Responsibility: Works with specific oral and written instructions
  • Physical Effort: Exerts light physical effort in doing such tasks as using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; running lightweight powered scrubbers and buffers; continually standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying wastebaskets; frequently pushing carts and occasionally lifting and carrying
Working Conditions

Work is predominately performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Work involves exposure to dirt and disagreeable odors. Normally, there is a chance only of minor injuries.
