Position Overview
ROLE SUMMARY
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role within the medical team by delivering essential clinical, administrative, and technical assistance to healthcare providers. This position is crucial in ensuring the effective planning and management of patient care, comfort, and safety while upholding the mission and values of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS). Maintaining patient confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of this role.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with certification from AAMA or RMA is required. Successful completion of the following coursework (or recognized equivalents) is mandatory:
- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease
- Pharmacology
Preferred Qualifications: A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the State of Wisconsin.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications: No prior experience is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Minimum Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within three months of employment, along with one of the following:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Preferred Qualifications: BLS certification from the AHA at the time of hire. A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the State of Wisconsin.
This position serves multiple locations within the healthcare system.
