Security Operations Specialist

Position Overview:
You will be engaged as a Security Operations Specialist within the Commander, Navy Installations Command.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of the security team, your duties will include:
- Activating and deactivating security systems to facilitate access for authorized personnel.
- Assessing situations to determine appropriate actions or solutions to enhance security measures.
- Communicating security policies to staff and the public to uphold safety protocols.
- Conducting patrols of both the interior and exterior of facilities to ensure overall security.
- Inspecting containers, personal belongings, and documents on individuals or vehicles to safeguard people, property, and facilities.
- Operating and monitoring sensor systems within restricted areas to permit access solely to authorized individuals.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. This experience should include:
- Verifying identification for access to restricted areas.
- Managing pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain order and security.
- Granting or denying access to restricted areas based on established protocols.
- Conducting inspections of vehicles and packages to ensure compliance with security regulations.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants must be able to certify and/or re-certify in the use of all security equipment. Training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray will be required in a controlled environment. Compliance with uniform and grooming standards as per directives is mandatory. Candidates must also pass an annual physical agility test.
Physical Demands:
This role necessitates regular physical exertion, including prolonged periods of standing, walking, and other physical activities. Employees may engage in pursuits and detainments, participate in training exercises, and navigate large facilities.
Work Environment:
The position involves exposure to high-risk situations that may require extensive safety precautions. Employees will operate in environments where public access is prevalent, and potential threats may arise.
Additional Information:
This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program and requires rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Certain incentives may be available for eligible candidates.
