Pre/Post Operative Staff Nurse

The Pre/Post Operative Staff Nurse is a critical member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires a high level of expertise, compassion, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient admission and pre-operative care, ensuring holistic preparation for surgery, including education, escorting family members, and addressing psychosocial needs.
- Coordinate pre-operative lab work, documenting and reporting pertinent results.
- Provide post-operative care and stabilization, preparing patients for return to the home environment, considering all needs, including post-discharge care, escorting family members, educational, and psychosocial needs.
- Perform thorough and accurate patient assessments, anticipating potential problems, and reporting pertinent information to the anesthesiologist, supervisor, and/or surgeon.
- Document actions in the medical record completely and accurately in a timely manner.
- Ensure the safety of patients, self, and others, acting appropriately in emergency situations.
- Act as discharge nurse when assigned, providing holistic and thorough discharge education.
- Demonstrate good nursing knowledge base and rationale for actions, including cardiac monitoring.
- Supervise and direct, as delegated, the activities of non-professional personnel.
- Utilize equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently, assisting with stocking, replenishing, and preparation of supplies.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state.
- Minimum of one-year experience in acute care/PACU is preferred.
- Cardiac monitored nursing care preferred.
- Ability to work independently and function within a team, assess patient needs, determine priorities, plan, and direct pre/post-operative care of the patient.
