The Operating Room (OR) Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. As a key member of the healthcare team, the OR Circulating RN acts as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs.
Responsibilities- Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' clinical status, incorporating growth and development, and psychosocial implications. Develop individualized care plans that take into account evidence-based practice and the medical plan.
- Implementation and Evaluation: Implement the nursing plan of care, incorporating evidence-based practice and the medical plan. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and revise the plan as necessary.
- Documentation: Accurately document and update pertinent aspects of patient care in the patient's medical record. Document unusual occurrences and provide follow-through in a timely manner.
- Communication: Demonstrate effective communication skills, including respect, positive body language, and tone. Adapt to the communication styles of others to achieve effective communication. Utilize active listening skills, clarify understanding, and ask open-ended questions to facilitate discussions.
- Education and Experience: Degree from an accredited school of nursing - Required. Bachelor's Degree (Preferred). Minimum of 2 years' work experience as a Registered Nurse (Pediatrics preferred) in the Operating Room setting.
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Current permit or license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas. BLS and PALS required. ACLS required if PALS not current, PALS required within 6 months of hire.
