CT Technologist Job Description

Lake Regional Health System is seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to contribute to our team's mission of delivering exceptional patient care.

A CT Technologist plays a vital role in the imaging process, using computed tomography (CT) equipment to capture high-quality images of patients' bodies. This role requires a strong understanding of radiation safety and patient positioning to minimize exposure and ensure accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate CT equipment and accessories to produce high-quality images
  • Perform daily quality control checks to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize patient exposure
  • Prepare patients for exams by providing clear instructions and answering questions to reduce anxiety
  • Select appropriate scan protocols to achieve optimal image quality
  • Position patients for scans, immobilizing them as needed to ensure accurate imaging
  • Transport patients to and from the department, ensuring their safety and comfort
  • Follow sterilization procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Handle hazardous materials and prevent cross-contamination
  • Clean equipment and maintain inventory and restock supplies
  • Perform aseptic techniques according to established standards of care and infection control
  • Administer contrast materials as needed
  • Follow established policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Take patient histories prior to exams
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
  • Supervise and train new staff members, providing guidance and feedback to ensure their success
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology program
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Certification in CT within 12 months of hire
  • Annual influenza vaccine required
