Job Summary:

The Planning Architect II will assist the Director of Capital Design in aligning Capital Projects with the university's mission, vision, and strategic goals. The successful candidate will participate in capital outlay planning efforts, design review, and construction review processes to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in aligning Capital Projects with the university's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Participate in capital outlay planning efforts and the development of capital projects for the updates of the Six-Year Capital Outlay Plan.
  • Assist with robust and timely design review of university capital projects from concept through implementation phases.
  • Provide expertise in sustainable design at a systems and building scale, and provide guidance during capital project processes to promote sustainable design principles and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Architecture, or BS in Architecture and work experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
  • Experience applying sustainable benchmarking in professional architectural practice.
  • Registration or demonstrated ability to be registered as a Professional Architect in Virginia within 12 months of employment.
  • Five years of professional experience as an architect.
