Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Center Director, the Lead Teacher for Toddler Care is tasked with designing and executing the daily curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of young children. The primary focus is on achieving program excellence and fostering a nurturing environment of the highest quality. The Lead Teacher will ensure consistent program delivery by adhering to established schedules and complying with relevant regulations and standards.

This role is situated within our Toddler 2 Classroom, catering to children aged 24-36 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Craft and execute engaging lesson plans.
  • Facilitate daily classroom activities that promote learning.
  • Ensure that parents/guardians complete daily sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and families.
  • Create and uphold a safe, stimulating learning environment.
  • Continuously enhance professional knowledge and classroom competencies.
  • Communicate significant issues to management as necessary.
  • Organize and oversee center events (e.g., field trips, photographs).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the classroom.
  • Be familiar with emergency protocols and regulations.
  • Implement established childcare policies and comply with state regulations.
  • Participate in all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, along with six credit-bearing courses in Early Childhood, is required. Experience in leading groups of children is essential.

Options include:

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development, with one year of relevant experience in infant and toddler care.
  • Infant/Toddler Credential or Infant/Toddler CDA, plus two years of experience in child care.
  • CDA with two years of experience in child care, including one year with infants and toddlers.
  • 9 college credits in Early Childhood or a related field, with a study plan leading to a credential, plus two years of experience in child care, including one year with infants and toddlers.
  • Familiarity with various programming resources and the ability to apply this knowledge in daily activities.
  • Exhibit maturity, responsibility, and a genuine interest in working with children and families.
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to supervise children visually and audibly at all times.
  • Capacity to respond swiftly to safety concerns in the environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure and respect in challenging situations.
  • Capability to move throughout the classroom to assist and supervise children during activities.
  • Ability to lift young children and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and move between different program sites.
