Position Overview

GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This role involves providing advanced social services to individuals and their families under varying levels of supervision. Key responsibilities include conducting intricate psychosocial evaluations, participating in treatment teams, and developing and monitoring treatment plans as well as discharge strategies. The position requires delivering therapeutic counseling to clients with complex needs, including those at risk of self-harm or exhibiting dangerous behaviors. Additionally, the role entails assessing the need for involuntary commitment and may involve executing such orders. Clinical training for social services staff is also a component of this position, along with performing evaluations for legal proceedings and eligibility assessments. Supervision of professional and/or paraprofessional staff may be required, with one position designated as the unit manager.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as recognized by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists. A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in therapeutic counseling, case management, and legal assessments is required.

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A pre-employment physical examination is mandatory for appointment.
  • A fingerprint criminal background check is required prior to appointment.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and random alcohol/drug testing are conditions of employment.
  • Compliance with federal law regarding registration with the Selective Services System is required for males aged 18 to 26, or proof of exemption.
  • An official transcript from the institution that conferred your degree is necessary for the Human Resources Department.
