About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Gateway Foundation. As a Behavioral Healthcare Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing essential services to underserved populations in a correctional institution setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, and facilitate didactic groups to support clients' recovery.
  • Document treatment and discharge plans, and clients' progress and responses to treatment, maintaining accurate records and charts.
  • Perform case management and contribute to client care monitoring, ensuring the highest level of care and support.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a closely related field is preferred, with a bachelor's degree required.
  • P-LPC, LPC, P-LMFT, LMFT, LMSW, or LCSW, CADC, or CRADC certification is required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of clinical counseling experience, with concurrent experience in the treatment of substance abuse and dual-diagnoses is preferred.
  • At least 6 months of development counseling experience with the program-specific population is preferred.
  • 12 hours of documented supervisory training, or equivalent supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance is necessary, as the work environment is a correctional institution.
