About the Role

At RTX, we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer, Military Development to join our team in North Berwick, Maine. This role will play a crucial part in driving process control and quality improvements across our Military Product Line.

The successful candidate will lead Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) elements, focusing on process control and improvement. They will be responsible for executing MRL elements such as Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plan & Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R).

This role involves both internal shop and supply chain components, requiring a strong understanding of complex manufacturing activities, particularly Grind and EDM {Electro Discharge Machining}. The ideal candidate will have experience with statistical analysis tools, including Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple process steps, representing the organization related to MRL execution, developing standard work, procedures, and integrating industry-standard best practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate manufacturing risks to achieve superior quality performance, implementing process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs.
  • Statistical Analysis: Use statistical analysis tools to perform Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product.
  • MRL Execution: Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves and Qualification plan.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (aerospace, industrial, mechanical, manufacturing) and 2 or more years' experience in a manufacturing operations environment or a Master's degree and 1 or more years experience in a manufacturing operations environment.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Hold a current U.S government issued Secret Clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret Clearance.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, CORE/Six Sigma Practitioner/professional certification, understanding of continuous improvement concepts: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.
