SBA Underwriter Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The SBA Underwriter is a critical member of our team at Idaho Central Credit Union, responsible for working closely with SBA Loan Officers, SBA Loan Underwriters, and SBA Processors to secure SBA products and guarantees. This role requires a high level of expertise in credit analysis, risk assessment, and loan structuring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a pipeline of 2-3 loans to an approval/denial credit decision, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Work closely with SBA Loan Officers and SBA Loan Underwriters to analyze applicant financial status, credit worthiness, repayment, collateral, industry analysis, risk rating, and compliance with ICCU regulatory guidelines and SBA eligibility.
- Prepare detailed Credit Memorandums, providing recommendations and preparing for submittal to the loan committee.
- Collaborate with the Processor throughout the closing process, ensuring file completion, review, and approval of all Underwriting items, preparation of Change Memos, and compliance with all Prefunding file review items.
- Evaluate third-party appraisals, business valuations, environmental assessments, tax transcripts, PSA's, Lease, Franchise Agreements, and other relevant documentation, ensuring compliance with loan conditions.
- Develop expertise in the use of ICCU loan systems and ensure all documents required for credit approval are uploaded to nCino.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of SBA underwriting experience for SBA 7a, SBA Express, and SBA 504 loan requests.
- Minimum Commercial Loan Underwriting Experience necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, and/or equivalent experience preferred.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Small Business Administration (SBA) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ICCU Lending Policies.
- Advanced working knowledge of accounting principles, tax return analysis, and analytical interpretation of balance sheet and income statement analysis and cash flow.
- Experience in financial analysis of credits with in-depth knowledge of income statements, tax returns, and other financial documentation.
