We are currently in search of a Unit Manager who is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care within a secure institutional environment.
The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the staff assigned to the unit and managing the unit's programs. This role involves acting as a liaison throughout the facility by participating in various administrative meetings, ensuring the unit is integrated into the overall facility operations. Additionally, the Unit Manager is tasked with ensuring the unit is adequately staffed and managing the allocation of manpower resources effectively. They will also monitor and evaluate the unit's performance, focusing on addressing any identified deficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise the staff assigned to the unit, ensuring they perform their duties effectively and in accordance with facility and corporate policies.
- Engage in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation processes for assigned staff.
- Clearly communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities to all direct reports to ensure understanding.
- Conduct written evaluations for all staff under direct supervision and review evaluations completed by subordinate managers or supervisors in line with corporate guidelines.
- Regularly review payroll records of subordinates and monitor overtime usage.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
- Three years of experience in a criminal justice field, including two years in a supervisory role or two years as a CoreCivic Case Manager or Correctional Counselor, is required.
- Additional qualifying education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience on a "CoreCivic Way" unit management team, including time served as an acting Unit Manager, may be considered as a substitute for the aforementioned qualifications.
- Must possess knowledge of the principles and practices of correctional facility management, supervision, and training, as well as relevant corrections laws, rules, and regulations.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
